There is this on BaT! I need it (or any 993 911).

Side note: 18 years, 86k miles, 0 depreciation...If it fetches enough by the end of the day it might even make up for inflation.

My Uncle’s GT3 proves white can be exciting:

Fair enough, I do like the color on the Audi. Black was one of two colors I didn’t want, the other being red.

I didn’t want black either (I wanted red) but I really just wanted an E90M3 so I took what I thought was the first good one with 3 pedals that came my way.

Yeah, finding one with three pedals in a color with all the options I wanted took me 2 months. It was a pain in the ass.

I had actually given up the search, then I got an auto trader alert one Saturday morning ...3 pedals, adjustable dampers, every option except window shades and 19" wheels. Drove it home that day.

I wanted less than 30k miles, leather, idrive, premium sound, three pedals and a color that wasn’t black or red. Mine came up on autotrader with everything except premium sound, so I was like that’s close enough and got it.

What year? Mine was an 08, so super slow DVD based iDrive. Do you add oil like it’s your job? I personally know 3 E9xM3 owners. 2 rarely have to add oil, the other guy adds it every 3k or so, mine never made it more than 1600 miles without adding.

It’s a 2011, oct 2010 build. I specifically wanted a LCI model (09-11) because of the idrive update. Haven’t had to add any oil to mine.

I don’t ant to be that guy.

But that car is not worth $64k.

Maybe not to you, but I don’t think you’ll find too many 993's (even ragtops) that are much less than 60k. This one is a particularly nice one from the last year of production.

White looks great on some cars, not so much others.

I love it on 911's. And my Golf R looked fantastic in white.

My white F250 though, looks like a giant refridgerator.

Oh yeah, I mean they’ll go for whatever someone will pay for it, and $60k+ seems to be the going rate these days.

Having driven one though, I fail to see how it’s worth half that; especially considering you can get an NSX from the same era for $30-40k.

Agree on white Golfs, great color. Now that I’m looking at it a while, I kind of prefer it. Especially on a 993. I just gravitate toward loud colors because there are just so many shades of blackthoughsilvertowhite especially from (Audi, BMW, Cedes)

Potato Pototo. You can get a brand new STi for 40k that will come with a warranty, outperform both a 993 c2s and an orignal NSX, and be more practical than either as an every day car.

Agreed. I think wild cars need wild colors.

Very true. It’s all subjective I guess

How’s the S3 been? I am quite interested in them and would like an Oppo’s opinion and who better than an owner. Was the change from a manual to this hard, is it playful or not understeer-ey.

I really love it, it’s super quick in all the right places. I actually penned a full review on it, but I had an emergency and had to run out and it got Kinjad.

Anyway, It only took one drive to appreciate the DSG, it’s really good. It shifts so quickly that you can’t dislike it. The only thing with a flappy paddle box is that its best used in full automatic mode or full manual mode. The modes in-between, or using the paddles when its not in full manual mode will eventually put you in a bad spot. For instance, when you’re driving in automatic mode and you’re approaching an intersection downhill, you might want to kick back a few gears to save your brakes. Great, except the DSG sticks in manual mode for 10 seconds or so after you press a paddle. So if you don’t come to a full stop and don’t remember to shift down to 1 (who downshifts to first?) you’ll find yourself without power when you pull out. Alternatively, “S” mode downshifts aggressively for you which is great, but it’s also aggressive on shifts up and holds gears way too long for normal driving.

Regarding under steer: it’s an Audi, so I’m sure I could find some understeer at the limit. I’ll never see that limit outside of a track though. The MQB AWD system is spooky good, when you’re putt putting around in “comfort” mode it feels as FWD as your average Jetta. However it feels as planted if not more so than an STi when you’re ripping it. When you engage launch control, it’s the rear tires that chirp. It’s got grip for days.

I wanted to hate the paddles before I drove it, so did my buddy before I let him drive it. He took it to some back roads and I watched the smile grow on his face before he started muttering “pew, pew, pew” as he went up and down the gears.

As of two weeks ago I’ve got first crack at an RS3. I’m guessing that it will be over budget, but the guy who sold me the S3 offered the slot and a TD, so I took it.

The RS3 seems insane in all the right ways. Thanks for the response, I guess my mind will be clear when I do have a go in one.

Yea it sounds amazing but the RS cars are traditionally a substantial jump in price. I’m taking the test drive either way haha. I recommend a drive in one, the sales guy drove it like a madman before he let me behind the wheel!

I highly doubt they let test drives of S cars. They don’t even let you test drive Camaro’s here, which is utter nonsense since if you are spending for a moe expensive car you should know that it is exactly what you want. Therefore a test drive is necessary.

Honestly. Inventory is also laughable.

“Could I see what it would look like in white?”

“Yeah, just ya know buy it, we’ll have peeped for delivery and afterwards you can look at it all you want!”
